Dorothy Brophy retired from her position as librarian in Castletownbere.
She had worked in the service for over 28 years since the death of the previous librarian Mary Sheehan (née Shanahan) of The Square, Castletownbere. There have been many changes in those 28 years including computerisation, moving premises and becoming part of the Libraries Ireland initiative.
Dorothy is pictured here with the new librarian Aaron Hennessy and some of her family and friends who gathered to wish her well as she closed the library for the last time.
